3 weeks to go...

3 weeks from now, I'll wake up in Mexico. Finally a well-deserved well-needed vacation. We (my wife and I) are having a 1 week tour around the major Mayan cities in Yucatan: Chichén Itzá, Uxmal, Palenque, Tikal, Tulum, ... . When I was 18, I wrote a paper on the Mayas (which got lost unfortunately), so I'm thrilled to be able to visit them 'live'.
The second week we'll relax a bit at the Playa del Carmen.
Have you been there? What should we avoid ? Can you recommend a bar, restaurant, wine or beer we should not miss ?

Oh so jealous. I took to learning about the Maya after they were part of the plot-line in a Clive Cussler novel - strange where things spring from - and find them fascinating. Please take lots of pictures and share them. And have a wonderful time.
