Speaking Nightmare
Posted by Theo Heselmans on April 18th, 2008
I was once given the opportunity to do a demo/presentation about 'Development in Notes' for a group of around 50 Microsoft/Oracle minded programmers of an IT consulting firm. As I was expected to enter the room after they had their 'internal' progress meeting, I did not had the time to set up my laptop in advance.
I hooked up to the beamer, and could not get anything displayed (I discovered afterwards, it was my VGA port that was dead). After 10 minutes of trying everything, we gave up.
I did the entire 1 hour 'demo' talking about what they could have seen... :-(

I always have a backup presentation on CD or USB Stick as a PDF. When I travel for a presentation, the 2nd copy is never kept with the laptop case. I've had cases where having a Linux Live-CD was the best way to use a laptop/workstation that the tech-support forgot the password.
