Lotus loves NLLUG, NLLUG loves Lotus
Posted by Theo Heselmans on October 31st, 2009
I've just spend 2 days at the first NLLUG conference in Amsterdam. Around 300 people attended this well-organized event. Kevin Cavanaugh (VP of Lotus) did the keynote, and pointed out the remarkable initiative of around 25 Dutch Lotus oriented Business Partners, that formed an alliance in order to promote the Lotus solutions in the Netherlands. They use the yellow heart as their symbol for the 'Lotus Loves People' campaign.
As usual (luckily) there was great session content. Rob Novak repeated this presentation from UKLUG, not only giving away awesome code (a cool end-user tool called 'MyDomino'), but also 'Free Beer'. Scotch would have been better, but in Holland you serve a Heineken ! The second day was just as great, with a big attendance for both splendid presentations of Gab Davis (yes, I did go to Admin sessions!).
Thank you, Rob ! | Marnix, having a well deserved quick nap |
Part of the happy organizers, sponsors, exhibitors and attendees at the closing session |
With an interesting showcase, over 40 sessions, free beer (not only from Rob), lovely booth babes, friendly atmosphere, great networking, cool price drawings, and a remarkably well-oiled organisation, this is worth a repeat (which was already announced for June 17 & 18, 2010).
Marnix Kemme and his team can be proud. Thanks guys, cu next time for sure.

Great to hear that there is another first class event not far from my home.
Couldn't make it this year because I was on holiday. But I've already updated my calendar for 2010.
Theo, thank you so much for your review on our conference. I suppose that I'll have to live with that picture of myself sleeping during one of the many sessions. Please don't tell the speaker who's session this was ;-)
I don't think Marnix is taking a nap. He is just looking at his watch to ensure that the speaker sticks to the tight schedule :-)
It was probably my session, just after lunch...
I saw him niddle-noddle!
Next year I will present a security review on Marnix his web applications. Just as I did in 2007. That will keep him awake;)
I forgot to post the url to the OWASP BeNeLux meeting announcement. If you are interested in web application security, YOU SHOULD, come to Leuven on the 2nd of December. We'll have a great OWASP Live CD workshop in the afternoon and international speakers on a variety of security related topics during the evening. See you in Leuven!

@Ferdinand, @Marnix,
My lips are sealed !
Theo, ik meen dat jij de vraag stelde over het wisselen van taal in een XPage applicatie. Heel eenvoudig, kijk op { Link }
Kwestie van de locale zetten in het context object.
Sounds like it was a great event. I am so sorry that I could not make it. I was thinking of you (and the conference) as I was decorating for halloween here in the USA, wishing I could be 2 places at once.
Oh, and Theo, i still have a few pieces of Wittamer chocolate left. I am limiting myself to 2 pieces a day :)
indead it was a great event.....and i am looking forward to continue this in the near future.....Should be great if we can organize something together with partners from Belgium and Luxembourg.
